At The 'Boneyard': A Look Around The US Military's Collection Of Retired Aircraft

Located in the heart of the Arizona Desert in the United States, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is home to the largest 'boneyard' in the world.

A boneyard is a cross between a graveyard and a scrapyard.

The US Air Force base is where 5,000 retired military aircraft are currently based.

All military aircraft are sent to Davis-Mothan Air Force Base for recycling.

While the aircraft at the boneyard will never fly again, some of their parts may be reused.

At 2,550 feet above sea level, conditions are perfect for the preservation of the aircraft
