Lord Mayor's Big Curry Lunch A Hot Ticket For The Armed Forces

Lord Mayor's Big curry lunch

The so-called “Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch” has taken place in London today to raise money for the Armed Forces.

The event was a big one, with over 1,300 people coming together to enjoy an afternoon of curry, prizes and auctions.

General Sir Nick Carter, Princess Eugenie and the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress were all in attendance.

The Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch has raised over £1.7m for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the British Army’s national charity.

The money raised goes to members of the Armed Forces who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Curry is a long-standing tradition in the British Army, originating from the Army's long service in India and elsewhere in the Asian sub-continent, particularly during the days of the British Raj under Queen Victoria.
