MoD Pledges New Money To Support Military Children Across The UK

The Ministry of Defence has begun the latest round of its Education Support Fund for schools to help children from military families.

Over the next two years, up to £5 million will be allocated.

The fund helps schools and local authorities across Britain to integrate children from military families.

It supports kids who have recently moved to a new area and face starting a new school, as well as providing additional support to anyone with a parent deployed on operations overseas.

According to the MOD, each year it directly benefits over 30,000 children from military families.

Just over £30 million has been allocated since 2011, allowing schools to hire additional staff, including family liaison officers, and to buy extra library books.

MoD funding has also allowed schools to refurbish study areas and create ‘drop in’ support clubs.
