MoD Policeman Disciplined After Weapon Incident

A Ministry of Defence policeman has been disciplined after pushing a loaded gun into a colleague's body armour.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission heard evidence that in April 2016, the MoD police constable had deliberately pointed the muzzle of his loaded MP7 gun towards a fellow officer during a shift change at Bamfurlong Gloucestershire Police Armoury.
The accused denied deliberately making contact with his colleague, stating that the contact was not deliberate, but due to the cramped conditions.
Two other officers were present in the armoury at the time, but neither witnessed the incident.
The disciplinary panel found insufficient evidence to show the act was deliberate, although the panel was satisfied the actions of the officer were dangerous and that he failed to show sufficient care and attention, amounting to misconduct.
He has received a final written warning following the incident.
