NATO Finalises Battalion Deployment To Deter Russian Aggression

NATO has finalised the deployment of four multinational battalions, which include UK troops, to deter Russian aggression.

The battle groups are based in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

The 4 battalions are being led by the UK, Canada, Germany and the US.

The UK has sent 800 service personnel, it’s leading the group based in Estonia, but troops have also been deployed to Poland – where the US is in charge.

In total there are around four thousand servicemen and women in the four countries.

The action agreed a year ago, is to send a message of deterrence to Russia which borders Latvia – to show Moscow the combined strength of NATO forces, as of today the deployment is complete.
