NATO Sails Into Migrant Crisis

NATO warships have joined the fight against illegal trafficking in the Aegean Sea.

Vessels from Germany and Canada have teamed up with frigates from Turkey and Greece to patrol the seas between the two countries.

Known as Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2) its aim is to reinforce international efforts to cut the lines of illegal migration.

The German Navy flagship FGS Bonn, Canada's HMCS Fredericton, Turkey's TCG Barbaros and Greece's HS Salamis will conduct reconnaissance, monitoring and surveillance activites.
