Royal Navy frigate HMS St Albans is monitoring the progress of a Chinese warship through the English Channel.
The Portsmouth-based Type 23 frigate is shadowing the Chinese destroyer Xian as it sails east past the UK.
St Albans will keep track of the Chinese ship’s activity as it moves through the UK’s area of interest.
Commander John Cromie, the Commanding Officer of HMS St Albans, said:
“This is normal business for the Royal Navy, keeping watch over UK waters at all times."
