Teams travel from Middle East for pace sticking competition
The British Army's All Arms International Pace Sticking Competition has welcomed competitors from Jordan, Qatar, Bermuda, Bahrain and Pakistan, to be judged on carefully measured drill movements – with style and panache points also up for grabs.
Britons also formed some of the eight participating teams, 'All Arms' meaning teams from all walks of service life can compete by manipulating pace stick instruments to calculate and synchronise their routines.
The pace stick tool is typically carried by Army Drill Sergeants to mark out soldiers' strides for movements like Trooping the Colour.
