Chief Of The Defence Staff Visits Op Shader For Armed Forces Day

On Armed Forces Day the Chief of the Defence Staff finds himself at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, Centre of Operations on Op Shader.

General Sir Nicholas Houghton has been giving his reflections on Armed Forces Day to our reporter, Simon Newton.

The Chief of the Defence Staff explained what he thought the value of Armed Forces Day is to the military:

"I don't think there's anything more important to our Armed Forces than that they know they've got the support of the nation. Today is just one of those days when that is recognised."

General Houghton continued:

"Back in the UK across the nation I know that great tracts of UK society will be coming out in strength to show the esteem in which they hold the Armed Forces and the support that they constantly offer us."
