Royal Logistic Corps Holds Conductors’ Parchment Ceremony
Royal Logistic Corps has held its 2019 Conductors’ Parchment Ceremony at the RLC Officers Mess in Deepcut.
His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, accompanied by Lieutenant General M W Poffley OBE, presented parchments to five newly selected Conductors.
The first Conductor Parchment Ceremony took place on 1st June 2001 and the parchments are presented to the most senior soldiers within the RLC.
WO1 Senior Conductor Rob Ladell, one of the newly selected conductors, explains what it means to receive the title: "To be head of trade you are already the technical expert with the various specialisations.
"The conductor is the person that then is pulled from within those ranks by the corps headquarters, as someone who does further and wider engagement from a capability training and personnel point of view."
WO1 Conductor Neil Scott described how being selected is the "pinnacle" of the trade: "To have the conductor position as well as be the head of trade is a great opportunity and something I thought I would never ever get to."
The family is also presented with flowers at the ceremony to thank them for their support during the new conductor's careers.
Eleven conductors coins are also distributed in honour of tradesmen and women who go above and beyond.
