SCOTS Mark Great War Centenary With Music

To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland are recording an album to raise funds for veterans' charities.

The album will be called 'Walking With Heroes' and money raised from sales will go to Poppy Scotland. A series of special concerts is also planned to raise funds for charities that care for veterans.

The Director of Music, Major David Barringer, says he is looking forward to the new album because deployments have limited their ability to record new material.

"In recent years there's not been many military band recordings around because of all of the commitments - It's the first recording I've done for a while, the first recording the band have done for a good number of years"

The album will feature many of the regiment's trademark tunes, and for trombone player, Lance Corporal Hannah Arora, it's also an opportunity to showcase the band.

"It gives us a chance to show what we can really do"
