Soldier Injured In Castlemartin Tank Incident Released From Hospital

A soldier involved in the incident at Castlemartin Ranges last week has been released from hospital.

Two other soldiers, Royal Tank Regiment corporals Matthew Hatfield, 27, from Wiltshire, and Darren Neilson, 31, from Lancashire, died when an ammunition round exploded at the MOD base in Pembrokeshire on Wednesday.

Another soldier injured in the incident remains in a serious condition.

The Castlemartin ranges are used for tanks and armoured units to carry out direct-fire live gunnery exercises.

An Army spokesperson said:

“One soldier involved in the incident last week at Castlemartin Ranges has now been released from hospital, while the other remains in hospital in a serious condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of all those killed and injured in this terrible incident.”
