Trump Slams 'Politically Correct' London Mayor After Terror Attack

US President Donald Trump has lashed out at London Mayor Sadiq Khan for his response to the London Bridge attack, and said it is time to "stop being politically correct" about terrorism.
Mr Trump took aim at the Mayor, suggesting Mr Khan said there was 'no reason to be alarmed' following the atrocity.
The Mayor did not use the phrase "no reason to be alarmed" in a statement overnight or when he spoke in a television interview prior to the tweets, but has since said in an interview with the BBC:
“Just like terrorists are constantly evolving finding new ways to disrupt us, harm us, attack us, the police and experts, and all of us, are finding new ways to keep us safe. Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days – no reason to be alarmed – one of the things the police and all of us need to do is to make sure we’re as safe as we possibly can be. I’m reassured that we are one the safest global cities in the world – if not THE safest global city in the world, but we always evolve and review ways to make sure we remain as safe as we possibly can. ”
As news of the atrocity broke on Saturday evening, Mr Trump tweeted:
"We need to be smart, vigilant and tough. We need the courts to give us back our rights. We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!"
He then joined other world leaders in offering solidarity to the capital, tweeting:
But as day broke in the US, the president's tone changed as he embarked on a series of tweets demanding a tougher security approach.
He first tweeted:
"We must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people. If we don't get smart it will only get worse."
Meanwhile, Trump's son Donald Jr tweeted a link to an article from last year in which Mr Khan said that being prepared for terror attacks was "part and parcel" of living in a big city, with the comment:
"You have to be kidding me!?"
