A British soldier has suffered "minor injuries" after being involved in a "parachuting incident" in the United States.

The military parachutist experienced issues while in freefall during a training exercise in California.

The soldier sustained their injuries after they hit a local resident's house while trying to land on a designated drop zone.

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: "There has been a parachuting incident involving a British soldier training alongside American allies in California.

"The soldier received minor injuries and is recovering well."

The UK military says it conducts these kinds of exercises in order to maintain readiness of personnel and national security.
