US Coast Guard Seizes 2,300 Pounds Of Cocaine
The US Department of Defense has released footage of a boat, said to be carrying around 2,300 pounds of cocaine, being stopped by the US Coast Guard in the eastern Pacific.
The aerial footage, taken on 18 July, shows the suspected drug smugglers throwing bags overboard before being stopped by the Coast Guard.
In a statement on Friday, the US Coast Guard said: "The crewmembers apprehended the suspected smugglers and seized approximately 2,300 pounds of cocaine from the vessel."
The incident happened in international waters, the statement added.
The Coast Guard said it has seized a total of 26,000 pounds of cocaine, worth an estimated $350 million (£284 million), in the eastern Pacific between late June and mid-July.
