WATCH: Brave Military Pooch Takes To The Skies For Medivac Training
Medevac training is an important element of military life.
But it's not just essential for the human troops.
Sgt Bruce Brickleff, Kennel Master and Military Working Dog Handler for the 131st Military Working Dog Detachment was given the all-important role of hoisting his trusty companion, Staff Sgt (and Alsatian) Buri.
The dramatic footage shows the slightly reluctant, but very brave pooch being winched through the air as part of his K9 hoist training.
The UH-60 Black Hawk medical helicopter then receives Staff Sgt Buri and his master, Sgt Brickleff, before delivering them safely to the ground.
The exercise is part of the Training Support Activity Europe, which provides U.S., European and allied troops with realistic training scenarios in an effort to boost their combat readiness.
Here, troops and dogs alike prepare for air medical evacuation procedures.
