A group of officials from the Department of Wildlife joined to provide necessary instruction in order to maintain the elephant's welfare.

Over the course of a six-hour operation, the teams directed 'Jumbo' towards the coast using ropes.

Having safely guided the elephant to the Yan Oya area in Pulmodai, the animal was handed over to Wildlife officials so they could assess his health but was said to be fine following its ordeal.
