WATCH: North Korea 'Blows Up' US Aircraft Carrier

North Korea has released a new military propaganda video depicting an American aircraft carrier being bombed.

The footage, almost three minutes long, was published to YouTube by Uriminzokkiri, Pyongyang's official website.

Narrated with a female voice, the video shows a series of military images with animations and the sound of explosions.

It used pictures of the annual 'Foal Eagle' military drills between the US and South Korea, which this year started on March 1st.

The Pentagon says this exercise is designed to increase readiness to defend South Korea and to maintain stability in the peninsula.

However, Pyongyang considers these drills hostile and has long warned it will take action if the state feels the US-South Korean coalition is posing a threat.

As a warning, North Korea has recently carried out a series of ballistic missiles tests.

Missile launches have been condemned by governments and authorities including the UN, the UK and the US.

There have been widespread concerns that the North will test an intercontinental ballistic missile that, when perfected, could, in theory, reach US shores.

Recently, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said US military action against North Korea was "on the table".
