Who Were The Top Dogs At The Phoenix Winter Games Opener?

Veterans teams have begun to put themselves to the test in the Phoenix Winter Games.

The competition at Help for Heroes House Recovery Centre, Tedworth House, Wiltshire, started with the sled dog scurry.

The Games bring together former personnel recovering from an injury or illness.

The sled dog scurry is the first of five days of events, all themed around Winter Olympic and Paralympic sports.

The week of competition includes sled hockey, clay shooting, skiing, curling and archery.

Four teams were racing with the dogs: Team Colchester, Team Catterick, and two teams from Tedworth House.

Andy Halfpenny, Coldstream Guards veteran: "Recovery is a very long journey, and to be given opportunities like this is an amazing thing."
