UK troops learn jungle warfare skills with Thai military

One hundred and twenty soldiers have been on a jungle warfare exercise in Thailand.

Troops from the British Army's Grenadier Guards have been working alongside personnel from the Thai Armed Forces during Exercise Panther Gold 21.

The joint exercise, which included training in survival techniques, navigation, and the combat sport Muay Thai, coincided with a visit to Thailand by defence minister Baroness Goldie, who signed an agreement to increase defence co-operation between the UK and Thailand.

Major Bayliss, Officer Commanding Support Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, said: "We can learn much from the Royal Thai Army and their ability to live and fight in the jungle.

"It isn't all work – our visit here is also as soldier ambassadors, to learn more about Asian culture and to deepen our understanding of the country."
