Duke of Edinburgh succeeds Prince Phillip and King Charles in two new honorary military roles
The Duke of Edinburgh has followed in the footsteps of his brother and late father with two new honorary military appointments.
Prince Edward has been appointed as the new Colonel-in-Chief of The Queen's Royal Hussars, a role that was previously held by Prince Philip.
Based in Tidworth, Wiltshire, The Queen's Royal Hussars is an armoured regiment in the British Army.
It was left vacant when the Duke died in 2021, but King Charles has now appointed Edward to the role.
And the King has also appointed Edward to succeed him in the role of Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Dragoon Guards.
Based in York, The Royal Dragoon Guards is a cavalry regiment that operates the Scimitar armoured vehicle.
King Charles has made a number of appointments, with the Duchess of Edinburgh also receiving two new honorary roles.
Prince William and Princess Kate also received three new military roles in the Royal military titles reshuffle.
