Watch: The Queen's 1993 speech marking 75 years of RAF

In 1993, the Queen made a speech to RAF personnel as part of the service's 75th anniversary commemorations at RAF Marham.

In a video from the Forces News archives, Her Majesty told personnel: "In the 75 years since its formation, the Royal Air Force has, time and time again, demonstrated its ability to adapt and to respond quickly and effectively, to changing circumstance.

"Most of you will have seen in recent years dramatic changes in your day-to-day lives and in the role demanded of your service," the Queen added.

During the visit, Her Majesty also presented a new Colour to the RAF in the UK.

The RAF was formed in 1918, in the latter days of the First World War, becoming the world's first independent air force.
