Army Boxers Clash In Inter Corps Championships

The British Army can arguably lay claim to having the best amateur boxing club in the country.

And Championship Finals Night is a chance to showcase this talent, which they did with an action packed evening in Aldershot last week.

28 boxers contested the Army individual titles to decide the outcome of this years Inter Corps Competition.

Andrew Foley, 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was back in the ring just weeks after helping his unit to victory at the Army Major Unit Championships.

Meanwhile, women's boxing is on the rise in the forces.

Lance Corporal Meg Mackay from 14th Air Assault, RLC, took part in the deciding bout of the female 51 kilogram flyweight division, she said:
"I didn't think I'd get this far, and the fact that I have is just overwhelming."
There were other notable performances on the night, but the final prize went to the Royal Engineers as they were crowned Inter Corps Champions.
