Army To Open Up Frontline Roles To Women

The Chief of the General Staff announced today that he plans to recommend to ministers that they open up all roles in the Army - including combat - to women.

General Sir Nick Carter was speaking at a Ministry of Defence event to mark International Women's Day.

He said “It makes no sense that the Army currently draws around 10% of its strength from 51% of the population.”
