Dino delight as Band of Welsh Guards play Jurassic Park theme tune at Buckingham Palace

The Band of the Welsh Guards played the iconic theme tune outside Buckingham Palace

The Band of the Welsh Guards stepped back into the prehistoric era, marking the release of Jurassic World Rebirth, with a rousing rendition of the classic theme tune of the original Jurassic Park film.

They performed the iconic music score, first written to the drumbeat of dangerous dinosaurs, at a more serene setting, in the sunshine outside Buckingham Palace during Changing of the Guard, much to the delight of onlookers.

The theme tune was composed by John Williams in 1993 and originally performed by the Hollywood Studio Symphony, but remains instantly recognisable.

The Band of the Welsh Guards are skilled musicians from the Royal Corps of Army Music, who regularly play at traditional ceremonies such as the Changing of the Guard, the recent VE80 celebrations and the King's Birthday Parade in London, but also perform worldwide.

They have a reputation for high musical standards and although they are best known for performing historic pieces, they have the talent to play any popular tune.

Jurassic World Rebirth, the seventh of the dinosaur-themed epic movies, stars Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey and will be in UK cinemas from 2 July.

Several scenes from the Hollywood production were filmed in London.
