Elsie Remembers the Normandy Landings

One of the very few women who landed on the Normandy beaches during the D-Day invasions has been speaking exclusively to Forces TV. 93-year-old Sergeant Elsie Crossley was just 23 when she helped bring tanks onto Arromanche beach.

She was hit by flying shrapnel from a German bomb, and still has the scar. Elsie, who’s written a book about her life, signed up against her parents’ wishes.

Our Welfare Reporter Victoria Smith met her at the Bridge for Heroes Exhibition Centre in Norfolk.
