Emotions Running High Over Closure Of Military Museum

Durham Light Infantry Museum is the latest casualty in a string of small military collections that have been closed across the country.

Four others are due to do so at the beginning of April.

The idea is to move the collection to a larger, environmentally controlled storage facility.

Parts of it will be displayed in temporary exhibitions in the city centre and the rest will be available to see on request.

Today councillors met in Durham to discuss the museum's future for a final time.
