First World War Soldiers Honoured In Bury

The sacrifices of two former bank employees who served during the First World War have been commemorated with a new plaque.

Born in the 1890s, Corporal Percy Grenfell Simmonds and Private Herbert Howarth were both killed at the Battle of the Somme.

The plaque has been unveiled at a Bank in Bury after their efforts were recently discovered while the building was being refurbished.
