A Focus On Life After The Military

The British Army’s only resettlement centre in Germany has officially re-opened in the Sennelager district of Paderborn, the northern city where most of Britain’s remaining troops in the country are now based.

The centre has moved from Herford nearly 40 miles away where British bases are now closing.

Private Bakari Sanneh from 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (1 PWRR) said:

“My biggest worries were what am I going to do? How am I going to do it? I’ve been in the Army that’s what I’ve done. I’ve never done something else before.”

Courses include CV writing, job interviews and using plain English instead of military jargon.

The Career Transition Partnership (CTP) runs ten centres and says each year it helps up to 12,000 service leavers find new careers.
