Foxhound: Built For Afghanistan, Ready For Anything
For most of their 290 year history The Black Watch, The 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS) have fought their battles on foot.
However, they are currently converting to a light mechanized infantry role and getting behind the wheel of a Foxhound armoured vehicle.
Many of these younger soldiers may have not long been driving a car, but now they have their category C driving licences and are behind the wheel of a 7,500 kg vehicle.
Army 2020 defence plans have seen 3 SCOTS stepping up to their new light protected mobility role.
They are preparing to be part of the British response to NATO's Very High Readiness Joint Task Force next year.
