Future Soldiers Discover Yorkshire's Military Past

The military's future and past have been brought together thanks to the reopening of the York Army Museum after a makeover.

A £1 million Lottery grant allowed the museum to create a new home for its collection of curiosities – from trophies of war from far away lands to desktop decorations for the officers mess, many with fascinating origins.

The museum is currently hosting a special exhibition about the Yorkshire Pals. The pals were simply a groups of friends and non professional soldiers, who went to war together.

Many were the same age as the junior soldiers who visited the York Army Museum.

Hannah King reports on the moment soldiers from Harrogate's Army Foundation College took a trip back in time.
