How the Paras Train to Drop Into Hostile Territory

This is the first time 3 Para have parachuted into Kenya for more than ten years. It's the highlight of the exercise, but it's a dangerous endeavour.

They're jumping from an operational height of just 800 feet, which gives them just twenty seconds in the air - not long if something goes wrong.

On top of that, the African soil has baked in the sun, making it a hard landing. Over at the Drop Zone, Army medics line the runway, waiting to treat any Paratroopers injured as they hit the ground.

Watch 3 PARA - Airborne in Africa every night at 9PM starting June 10th.
