Largest German Army Camp Opens Doors To Public
British Forces Germany saw the largest German Army or Bundeswehr camp open its doors to the general public for their Armed Forces Day celebrations.
But it wasn't just the Bundeswehr that were on display - the British Army had a starring role.
Soldiers and families alike enjoyed the warm temperatures for German Armed Forces day or Tag Der Bundeswehr.
On the largest of 12 celebrations around the country, Augustorf army camp was filled with more than 40,000 spectators who had come to get up close and personal with the tanks, vehicles and equipment, including some stands from our very own British Army.
In addition, you could walk around a large model of the Sennelager Training Area or take a look at an Apache helicopter.
They day also consisted of some important football matches, Germany vs. England.
The Army women football team put up a strong fight in what was to be their only defeat of the season.
The men's British Army Senior team also put up a hard fight, but the German Bundeswehr scored two goals in quick succession at the end of the game, leaving the final score at 3-0.
The two sides have a long footballing history, and these matched follow on from their 2016 charity game of remembrance.
With the German Bundeswehr and British Army working together under NATO, it was a proud day for both teams to represent their nation.
