Red Devils Drop In On Young Cancer Patients

Teenage cancer patients in Bristol have been paid a visit by the Red Devils Freefall Team in Bristol, as it announced its support of two charities in south-west England.

The Army's parachute display team also spent time with youngsters in the Bristol Children's Hospital as part of a day visit of poster-signing and photographs with the poorly children.

Patients at the Teenage and Young Adult centre, known as the TYA, can spend weeks in and out receiving treatment, so a visit from the team came as a welcome distraction.

Hanna, who is in her second round of chemotherapy, wants to join the Royal Air Force following in the footsteps of her father.  The team are all members of the Parachute Regiment and must spend four years in the Army before applying to join the Red Devils.

After visiting the TYA they spent time on several of the wards in Bristol Children's Hospital.

They showed a video of their displays and jumps from the past to the children on tablet computers.

The team took their time to answer the children's questions, sign posters and hand out Red Devils memorabilia.

The team have made 'Above and Beyond' their charity of the year, with the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.  They've also promised to take the Teenage Cancer Trust flag to their training camp in California this year.
