"Reservists Will Only Back Up Regulars in a National Emergency"
The head of the British Army has outlined what he thinks the role of reservists should be in the Armed Forces.
Speaking during a lecture at the international affairs think tank, Chatham House, General Sir Nick Carter said the Army Reserve is only for training purposes.
He added that reservists will not be routinely used to back up the numbers of regulars, saying this will only be done in the event of a national emergency, and stressed the need to appeal to a wider pool of recruits.
