Royal Approval for Soldiers of 9th/12th Lancers

The Duke of York has awarded Afghanistan campaign medals to soldiers of the 9th/12th Lancers, not at their base in Germany but at a village south-east of Paris.

They returned to Fretoy near Montcel to commemorate the regiment's First World War predecessors, who rode into battle to conduct the British Army's very last cavalry charge.

From France, Rob Olver reports.
