'Snap' Inspection For Fusiliers

The 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers have undergone a ‘snap’ inspection.
 
The inspection of kit, vehicles and personnel was carried out at the Fusiliers base on Salisbury Plain.
 
Carried out by the GOC 3rd (UK) Division, Major General Patrick Sanders, the “Readiness Verification Exercise” is intended to check if the unit’s Manning, Equipment, Training and Interoperability levels (METS) are at a high enough standard to enable deployment at short notice.
 
These checks are set to become common place within the Division's Units over the coming weeks and months.
 
The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers have been involved in every major conflict over the last 400 years.
 
They use the Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AVF).
 
Capable of travelling at 30mph off-road, and weighing 25.4 tonnes, the AVF is armed with a 30mm L21A1 RARDEN cannon, L94A1 coaxial 7.62mm chain gun and a 7.62mm machine gun.
 
The Fusiliers consist of a wide range of roles:
  • Infantry Soldier
  • Warrior Driver
  • Warrior Gunner
  • Warrior Commander
  • Combat communications
  • Sniper
  • Mortarman
  • Fire Support Group weapons specialist – Javelin, Heavy Machine Gun
  • Adventurous training qualifications
