Soldier Uses Jackal Armoured Vehicle To Visit His Parents
Wrexham soldier Corporal Kieran Welfoot, from ‘C ‘ Company 1st The Queen’s Dragoons, decided to take his work home with him when he made a surprise visit to his Mum and Stepdad in Ellesmere.
Cpl Welfoot parked up his Jackal armoured vehicle and called in for a cup of tea on his way to a week-long exercise at Nescliffe training area.
Normally based in Robertson Barracks, Swanton Morley, Cpl Welfoot said:
“Obviously being based in Norfolk, I can’t just pop in to see my mum and step-dad whenever I feel like it. It was great to see them today. I was able to introduce them to my crew that they have heard so much about, but have never met.”
His mum Sue said:
"I guess this is what happens when we don't visit as often as we should. The Army sends him to us!”
While in Nescliffe, the Squadron will practise vehicle mounted operations on Jackals ahead of a six-week deployment to California on Exercise Diamond Back.
