Students To Soldiers: Officer Cadets Train In Cyprus

The Officer Training Corps (OTC) has been a traditional route for many university students wanting to join the British Army.

With the Government’s push to recruit more reservists, it's also a vital source of part time soldiers.

Officer cadets from across the UK have been on exercise in Cyprus learning basic infantry skills.

Organised by Wales University OTC, it's a rare chance for them to train abroad and take another step towards a commission.

With the Ministry of Defence striving to boost the British Army’s reservist numbers to 30,000 by 2018, these overseas exercises are, in part, about showcasing the benefits of life in the military.
