Two-Tonne Gun Fired On Snowdon
A two-tonne gun has been fired from the top of Snowdon as part of the 300th anniversary of the Royal Regiment of Artillery.
It was fired three times at 5:20 this morning after a baton representing the regiment’s history was handed over on the summit.
32 Regiment Royal Artillery handed it over to Newport’s 104 Regiment, who are responsible for the Welsh leg of the journey.
The baton was then taken by cadets from Clwyd and Gwynedd Army Cadet Force from Snowdon to Blaenau Ffestiniog, via the zipwire at Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda.
The Welsh tour will travel through Brecon, Powys, Pen y Fan, Rhondda Heritage Park and end with a gun salute in Cardiff on Sunday.
