UEFA Honours Role of Football in 1914 Christmas Truce

The role played by football in the 1914 Christmas Day truce during the First World War has been honoured by UEFA.

Representatives from the sporting body, including its president Michel Platini, attended a service in Belgium where a specially commissioned sculpture was unveiled.

UEFA has also made a video bringing to life the extraordinary events of that day.

It features famous footballing faces - from Gareth Bale to Sir Bobby Charlton - as well as former German players.
