UK Warrior Crashes into Couple's Garden Fence

A British military vehicle has crashed into an elderly couple's garden fence in Germany, it has been reported.

The Army said the Warrior tracked armoured vehicle swerved off the road because of a mechanical fault, adding that no-one was harmed in the incident and that an investigation is underway.

The infantry fighting vehicle belongs to a nearby military driving school owned by Paderborn Garrison.

Ulrich Tilsner, 67, said he and his wife were left "in shock" after it ploughed through his garden, stopping just before it hit his house.

They added that the tank-like vehicle sounded "like a bomb exploding" as it went through their fence.

Their granddaughter Stephanie Ney, meanwhile, told German newspaper Neue Westfalische:

"My grandfather called me and said, 'I'm a bit late, I have a tank in the garden.'"

She said she rushed to her grandparents' house, where she found "a tank in the middle of the hedge and soldiers everywhere, and our dog barking furiously".
