We Remember the Year That Divided Cyprus

Commemorations have taken place across Cyprus marking the military coup which took place on the island 40 years ago.

This morning, sirens were sounded to mark the moment the president Archbishop Makarios was ousted from power in 1974.

Five days later Turkish forces landed on the island and fighting broke out.
