'Living legend' Gurkha veteran celebrates 106th birthday

A "living legend" Gurkha veteran has celebrated his 106th birthday.

"Beloved" Dhan Bahadur Baje marked his milestone birthday at his home, with his family members and neighbours.

The Gurkha Welfare Trust's AWC Bagmati team joined in the celebrations and posted pictures on social media.

Established in 1969, the Gurkha Welfare Trust provides vital support to Gurkha veterans, their families and communities in Nepal.

Gurkhas are soldiers from Nepal who are recruited into the British Army and have been for more than 200 years.

Another centenarian has celebrated his 104th birthday with the perfect gift.

Second World War Navy veteran George Pearson, an aircraft maintainer/engineer during WW2, received an Arctic Star to help complete his collection for wartime service.
