Meet the Gurkha Band: Soldiers who started their musical journey from scratch
The Brigade of Gurkhas is home to a singular band, a unique ensemble where members volunteer from any Gurkha regiment to take on the secondary role of musician.
Unlike other British Army bands, where musicians often have formal training, the members of the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas start their musical careers from scratch.
Balancing their musical training with their primary military duties, these dedicated soldiers come together just a few times each year to practise their repertoire.

As the video above explains, their rehearsals are strategically scheduled to prepare for a demanding calendar filled with attestations, pass-out parades and other performances while juggling their commitments to their respective units.
