Navy aviators tweet a 'pupdate' on adopted puppy mascot KT

A stray puppy befriended by Royal Navy aviators on deployment in Montenegro is another step closer to making Somerset her home after she was microchipped, had her first round of jabs and qualified for a passport.
Aircrew and engineers from 845 Naval Air Squadron took the pooch in in the middle of a storm in the Balkan country and named her 'KT'.
The puppy enjoyed playing with cable ties and spent hours around the squadron's Merlin helicopter as it was being repaired at Podgorica Military Air Base.

Royal Navy aviators decided they wanted to bring their new four-legged friend to their base at RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset and make her their mascot.

They set up a Gofundme page to raise the £2,000 required to cover the costs of vaccination and transporting her back to the UK – the total is currently almost £7,000.
Now, 845 Naval Air Squadron have provided a 'pupdate' on KT on Twitter, saying: "Thanks to your donations, KT the Montenegrin puppy has been microchipped, had her first round of jabs and now has her very own passport!

Petty Officer 'Frank' Stapleton of 845 Naval Air Squadron said: "Before leaving Montenegro a few of us got in touch with a local charity and also liaised with a few of the Montenegro Air Force [MAF] pilots about getting her back to the UK and giving her a proper home.
"As she wasn't scared of noisy aircraft, having spent her short life so far on an airfield that happened to be the home of the MAF and the international airport for Montenegro, we feel she'll be right at home on 845 NAS."
KT is currently with a Montenegrin dog foster family until she can make the journey to the UK.
