Ex-Royal Marine War Veteran Admits Assaulting Woman Twice

Exeter Crown Court

A war veteran has pleaded guilty to attacking a woman twice in two days.

Former Royal Marine Bobby Burnett, 32, admitted two offences of assault by battery at Exeter Crown Court, via video link from prison, according to Devon Live.

Burnett, from Hull, pleaded guilty to carrying out the assaults on Amy Stephens on May 12 and 13, when he appeared before Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC.

He denied stealing his victim's bank card and mobile phone the previous month, before using the card to book a holiday.

Burnett, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, was discharged in 2015.

He had been serving at the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone.

Judge Mercer adjourned the case to allow the prosecution time to determine if it wants to proceed with the other allegations.

Burnett was remanded in custody.
