Chief of Air Staff praises personnel's commitment and dedication in Christmas message
The Chief of the Air Staff has thanked his personnel for their commitment and dedication in a Christmas message recorded by BFBS Forces News.
Air Chief Marshal Harv Smyth, who took over from the now-Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Rich Knighton, in September, also praised the aviators and aircrew's families for allowing personnel to work through the festive period.
"Thank you for your dedication to helping keep the nation safe, to keep our families and friends safe," ACM Smyth said.
"I have spent many Christmases away in operations. I know that can be hard. So, thank you very much for your dedication. It is much appreciated."
ACM Smyth, who spent more than 10 years as a frontline Harrier pilot and was elevated to Air Marshal in 2022, added that it was important that personnel got some rest ahead of the new year.
"Please do take the opportunity to recharge," he said. "I know that's what I will be doing with my family.
"So that we can come back in the new year for what will undoubtedly be another very busy year, 2026.
"We know there will be operations that the Royal Air Force must respond to, and to continue on our quest as the nation's first responder."
