You can't fly without supply: Inside the vital role of RAF logistics

Watch: Sergeant Dai Venn tells Forces News how "vital" logistics is to the success of an operation.

There is a saying in some parts of the Royal Air Force – "you can't fly without supply".

Logistics are a significant part of any RAF operation, with there being plenty of kit and parts to move and keep track of.

Forces News has spoken to Sergeant Dai Venn, who has been overseeing logistics as part of the Deployed Support Group on the Baltic Air Policing Mission in Estonia, Operation Azotize.

Vital to the success

"Our role here is to provide all the bits and pieces that the technicians need to fix an aircraft if and when it breaks," Sgt Venn told Forces News.

"Because of that everything in here is vital to the success of this operation and, without it, the technicians can't do their job and without the technicians doing their job the pilots can't do their job."

He added: "Our role here is to provide all the bits and pieces that the technicians need to fix an aircraft if and when it breaks."

In the video above Sgt Venn, on his first Nato deployment, has been explaining how he keeps track of everything.
