1,000 NATO Troops To Descend On Polish Town
This spring, British soldiers will deploy to the small town of Orsysz in Poland as part of a one-thousand strong NATO force, led by the Americans.
Polish troops already stationed in the town of Orsysz will be joined by the multinational battlegroup.
Among their number will be 150 British soldiers from the Light Dragoons, as well as Romanian troops.
It will be one of four such groups stationed in countries on NATO’s eastern flank.
Orsysz is already used to a foreign presence, with an influx of German tourists every summer, and the community is surprisingly optimistic about the arrival of the soldiers in their small town.
Some are suggesting that the influx will be good for local businesses and tourism.
One restaurant is specially adapting it's menu to suit the American palette and will now offer dishes such as steak, burgers and pizza, as well as sending members of its staff on language courses to improve their English.
